I've been quite the busy bee since my last post! Lets see...
In addition to my magazine duties, I've joined the Fetes de Fleurs squad here in Charleston. I'll be one of the gals hosting floral parties and such. Last week I went to my first bachelorette party and it was awesome! The group of girls were all friends from college (War Eagle!), cousins or friends from middle school! Made me miss all of my girls back in OH!! Also made me want to have my own bachelorette party. Lolz.
On October 21 I ran in the Lowcountry Race 4 a Cure 5k on Daniel Island. This year was a little more emotional than the previous years. Exactly 365 days before I ran, my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. Typically you don't expect someone so young or healthy or your sibling to be someone who gets cancer, but it happens. And it sucks. You cry wondering what's going to happen, you cry wondering if you're next, you cry every time you think of your two little nieces or your entire family. You just cry and worry all the time. Thankfully my sister is doing well and is finished with all of her treatments. It could have been way worse, but regardless it's something no one should have to go through. My three sisters did this race together back in Ohio, so I'm happy I was able to run it and support all survivors/fighters even if it was down here by myself! :)
After I was done with the race, my friends and I headed to the Victory Polo Cup just outside of Charleston. We got there a little late because my friend was in a car wreck (she's okay, car not so much!), but it was still fun!! We got to see a little bit of the match and TWO CORGIS! Which essentially made the day. (Pics of me stalking them on my Instagram!) After the match, it was just a bunch of partying with polo players and people in big hats!
The alumni club held our #TailgateAgainstPennState party which I can say ended up being a success. We had a decent amount come and join the cornhole tournament and stay to watch the game. I chatted a bit with a couple who came to the watch the game for the first time just to be with other Buckeyes and they ended up being from a town not far from where I'm from AND cousins to one of my neighbors. Ohio, man.
All of my besties came to the tailgate, too! But major shouts to Mikell and Chad who stayed the entire game and had to endure my superstitious rituals which included everyone standing the entire game, watching certain TVs, and staying away if something good happened when you were gone. (Not weird if it works!) The game ended up being one for the books. ...And if you didn't watch it, do you even like America?
After the game was over, I left my Buckeyes to rush home and get ready for our Halloween party. I ended up going as Top Bun: a low budget sequel. Lol. The boys next door were also having a party, so it ended up being a backyard sorta bash. (Well in between raindrops!) Normal party activities happened and great costumes were worn. (Snagged a few pics below!)
Our kickball team is undefeated and in first place, holla! We officially saw the first person in the league get ejected from a game... mind you this is an intramural kickball league. LOL.
That's really the highlights of the end of October. Only a few more weeks before California and Thanksgiving, so I'm sure more adventures will pop up between then! I'm also in the mood to go to Chicago or NYC, I think it's the weather. Always makes me miss downtown-skyscraper-life.
I'm also participating in a No McDonald's Sweet Tea month. A competition I started with myself and by myself. The addiction is real and prayers are appreciated.
